Sony Confirms May 2025 PS Plus Games Line-Up
Sony has announced the PlayStation Plus monthly games for May 2025 via a post on the PlayStation Blog. The new titles will be available to PS Plus subscribers from 6 May to 2 June.
Three Titles Join the Monthly Rotation
Subscribers can download Ark: Survival Ascended (PS5), Balatro (PS4, PS5), and Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun (PS4, PS5) during this period.
These games follow a long tradition of monthly PlayStation Plus offerings. Sony rotates the library monthly to keep the catalogue fresh.
Ark: Survival Ascended Brings Unreal Engine 5 Upgrade
Ark returns in Ark: Survival Ascended, rebuilt using Unreal Engine 5 and featuring a new suite of quality-of-life updates.
“Are you ready to form a tribe, tame and breed hundreds of species of dinosaurs and other primeval creatures, explore, craft, build, and fight your way to the top of the food chain?” Sony wrote in its official description.
The updated game includes all of Ark’s content across its expansions: Scorched Earth, Aberration, Extinction, Genesis Part 1, and Genesis Part 2.
It supports online multiplayer for up to 70 players, private multiplayer for 8, and split-screen play for 2 local players.
Balatro Offers a Poker-Inspired Roguelike Experience
Balatro, available on both PS4 and PS5, combines roguelike mechanics with poker strategy and deck-building gameplay.
“In this poker-inspired roguelike deck builder, it’s all creating powerful synergies and winning big,” Sony’s statement said.
Players use valid poker hands and combine them with joker cards to create custom builds and synergies.
“Play illegal poker hands, discover game-changing jokers and trigger outrageous combos,” the official post added.
Players aim to earn chips to defeat progressively tougher blinds while unlocking new decks and hidden hands.
Boltgun Blends Warhammer Lore with 90s Shooter Action
Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun brings classic FPS gameplay to the Warhammer universe with retro-style visuals and fast-paced action.
“Load up your Boltgun and plunge into battle headfirst!” Sony wrote in its announcement.
The game features a Space Marine protagonist tasked with fighting Chaos Space Marines and daemons across the galaxy.
“In glorious boomer shooter style, unleash your devastating Space Marine arsenal,” the post continued.
The game includes fast movement, high damage weapons, and large levels reminiscent of 90s-era shooters.
Until Dawn Misses Out Despite Rumours
Despite speculation, Until Dawn is not part of May’s PS Plus offerings.
Fans previously expected The Last of Us 2 or It Takes Two to appear, but Sony confirmed these were inaccurate predictions.
None of the rumoured titles made the final list.
Game Removals Set for Next Month
While new games arrive, 22 titles will leave the PlayStation Plus catalogue next month.
Games set to be removed include Grand Theft Auto 5, Payday 2: Crimewave Edition, and several Resistance series entries.
Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 will no longer be accessible on modern consoles following their removal.
This marks the last chance for players to access first-party Resistance games on the PlayStation platform.

Sony Continues Monthly Content Rotation Strategy
Sony remains committed to refreshing its PlayStation Plus line-up every month.
The strategy supports subscriber engagement by offering popular titles across different genres and consoles.
Subscribers can expect continued updates as Sony balances additions with removals.
May’s Line-Up Reflects Diverse Gaming Styles
The three new games span survival, strategy, and shooter genres, offering different gameplay experiences.
From dinosaur survival in Ark to the strategic deck-building of Balatro and the retro gunplay of Boltgun, players have variety.
Sony’s approach appeals to a wide demographic across its subscription base.
Games Available from 6 May to 2 June
The games will be available for download from Tuesday, 6 May and remain free for members until 2 June.
Players with active subscriptions can add them to their libraries for continued access beyond the download window.
The announcement underscores Sony’s ongoing support for its subscription ecosystem as it competes with rival services.
