Tivan Limited (ASX: TVN) is taking its Speewah project story straight to the people who live beside it. The Company will host Community Information Forums across the East Kimberley in August, a clear signal that Tivan expansion news Australia-wide is picking up pace.

The timing matters. Tivan Limited Speewah project Australia development is closing in on a Definitive Feasibility Study and a Final Investment Decision, targeted for the fourth quarter of 2026. With that milestone approaching, the Company wants the community across the table, not on the sidelines.
Why the Speewah Project Matters Right Now
Tivan describes the Speewah Fluorite Project as substantially advanced on the technical, environmental and social front. Extensive studies have built up a body of evidence the Company now wants to share openly.
These Tivan community forums Australia-wide are not a first step. They build directly on a briefing Tivan already gave the Shire of Wyndham-East Kimberley Council. The public sessions extend that conversation outward.
What the Forums Will Cover
Tivan has kept the format simple and direct. Community members attending will get a chance to:
- hear an update on the Project and its progress toward the DFS
- learn about technical, environmental and approvals work already done, and what is still ahead
- ask questions directly of the project team
- share feedback and raise matters of local interest
Community members are encouraged to RSVP and send questions early by emailing Tivan directly. Tivan has confirmed that discussion will also be welcome on the day, so nothing needs to be locked in beforehand.
Where and When the Forums Will Run
Wyndham goes first, Thursday, 13 Aug 2026, at 4 pm. Kununurra gets its turn the next evening, Friday, 14 Aug 2026, same time. Exact venues are still being locked in, with Tivan working through the details alongside SWEK Council and the East Kimberley Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Not everyone wants to raise their hand in a packed room, and Tivan has thought of that too. An Open Office Day follows on Saturday, 15 Aug 2026, at the Company’s Kununurra office on 108 Coolibah Drive. No stage, no microphone, just small groups and one-on-one conversations.
Executive Chairman Grant Wilson framed the initiative around consistency, not novelty. He said:
“Tivan is looking forward to hosting these Community Information Forums, as part of our keeping the East Kimberley community updated and informed, alongside our dedicated efforts in localising the social and economic benefits of the Speewah Fluorite Project.”
Speewah Fluorite Project: Where Things Stand
Speewah hosts Australia’s only JORC-compliant fluorspar resource, a rare position in the local ASX mining sector. The 2024 estimate sits at 37 million tonnes, including 8.6 million tonnes of high-grade material.
Canberra added fluorine to the Critical Mineral List back in December 2023. Chipmakers rely on it. So do the people building AI servers, solar panels, and EV batteries. Rather than dig it up and ship it off, Tivan wants to run the processing here, aiming for a 97% acid-grade fluorspar product before it ever leaves Australian soil.

The Project is being developed in partnership with Sumitomo Corporation and JOGMEC, both backed by the Japanese Government’s push to secure stable critical mineral supply. ETFS Capital, the family office of Graham and Louise Tuckwell, has also committed up to A$51.3 million for an equity stake in the Project, with an initial tranche already invested in January 2026.
Tivan continues to work with Traditional Owners and Native Title Holders through the Kimberley Land Council, with heritage protection and resourcing protocol agreements already in place with Nganjuwarr Native Title Applicants and Yurriyangem Taam. Negotiations for Indigenous Land Use Agreements are ongoing.
Industry Outlook
Fortune Business Insights sized the global fluorspar market at USD 8.32 billion in 2025. Their forecast has it climbing to USD 11.71 billion by 2034, a slow and steady 3.87% a year.

Nearly half the world’s fluorspar demand, about 45%, already sits in Asia-Pacific. China takes a quarter of that on its own. Numbers like these are exactly why a buyer like Sumitomo, sitting right next door to Speewah, is not just a nice-to-have.
EV batteries and semiconductor plants are eating up more fluorochemicals every year. Tivan is not pretending Speewah is just another mine; it is betting on being the alternative supplier the market is starting to look for.

Future Direction and Impact on the East Kimberley Community
The August forums are a deliberate step ahead of the Final Investment Decision. Tivan wants local input recorded before, not after, major commitments are locked in.
An office in Kununurra is also planned, aimed at supporting local workforce development and procurement as the Project matures. Combined with the ASX announcement of these forums, it points to a Company trying to build community trust alongside its engineering studies.
If Tivan expansion news Australia-wide continues at this pace, Speewah could become a genuine test case for how critical minerals projects engage regional communities before FID rather than after.
