Citytv has announced the departure of Meredith Shaw and Sid Seixeiro from Breakfast Television, marking another major shake-up in Canadian morning television. The news was shared on-air Monday morning, with host Devo Brown expressing gratitude for their contributions.
“They’ve brought us plenty of great conversations, laughs, and unforgettable moments, and we’re grateful for everything they’ve shared with all of us,” Brown said. “We wish them the very best with what comes next. But we know that change is never easy.”
A Sudden Exit
The decision follows a series of recent changes at Citytv, including last month’s departures of longtime hosts Tracy Moore (Cityline) and Cheryl Hickey. While the network has not provided a specific reason for Shaw and Seixeiro’s exits, Rogers Sports and Media, which owns Breakfast Television, released a statement emphasizing their commitment to the show’s future.
“We’re invested in Breakfast Television’s success and leadership in Canadian morning television, and we’ll announce exciting new plans in the coming weeks,” the company stated. “As part of this evolution, we have parted ways with Sid Seixeiro and Meredith Shaw. We thank them for sharing their passion and energy with audiences every morning and wish them both the very best.”
Meredith Shaw’s Emotional Farewell
Shaw, who joined Breakfast Television in 2023, replacing longtime host Dina Pugliese, shared her thoughts in a heartfelt Instagram post.
“Not gonna lie, this is hard,” she wrote. “To you, BT viewers, my gratitude for you has never been deeper as a new chapter begins for your favorite show. I hope I did you proud, I hope you saw me up there on your television and felt seen, I hope you know how much I cherish every conversation I have with you.”
Shaw, a former afternoon radio host at CHUM 104.5, also made her mark in the fashion industry as a groundbreaking “curve” model, advocating for size inclusivity. She previously appeared on The Marilyn Denis Show, The Social, CTV Your Morning, and eTalk, making her a familiar face to Canadian audiences.
Sid Seixeiro’s Reflections on His Departure
Seixeiro, who joined Breakfast Television in 2021 after co-hosting Tim & Sid on Sportsnet, confirmed that his final day was February 7.
“Thanks for letting me into your homes and for being so kind,” Seixeiro posted on X (formerly Twitter). “Also, thank you to @Rogers for over 13 years of support. They allowed me incredible freedom on-air and I’m grateful.”
Seixeiro, known for his candid takes on sports and culture, brought a dynamic presence to Breakfast Television, blending humor and insightful commentary.

What’s Next for Breakfast Television?
While viewers are left wondering what’s next for the show, Brown assured audiences that “exciting plans” are in the works.
“We’ll be sharing updates very, very soon,” he said.
The departures come amid broader changes in Canadian television, with several major hosts exiting long-running programs. Last month, Cityline, one of Canada’s longest-running lifestyle shows, ended its 40-year run, leaving host Tracy Moore “heartbroken” but grateful for its legacy.
With Breakfast Television undergoing with the transformation, all eyes are on Citytv to see who will step in to fill the void left by Shaw and Seixeiro.
For now, viewers are left with memories of the duo’s energy, warmth, and connection with their audience—elements that made Breakfast Television a staple in Canadian homes.
