The Post That Started It All
On Tuesday, Lipton shared an Instagram post that suggested Lipton Peach Iced Tea was gone for good. A graphic showed the iconic peach-flavoured can with angel wings, alongside the words, “Rest in Peach.”
“You may have heard that our iconic Lipton Iced Tea Peach flavour is getting discontinued,” the caption read. “We know – it hurts (sorry if we’ve ruined your go-to afternoon chill bev).”
The post added that other flavours were still available and hinted at a possible future comeback. The hashtag #RIPeach reinforced the dramatic farewell.
Fans React with Shock and Frustration
Lipton’s announcement sparked immediate backlash. The comments section exploded with fans expressing disappointment and disbelief.
One user questioned, “How tf does a company discontinue arguably its best seller?” Another pleaded, “It’s the only flavour people like? Why are you doing this????? Delete and pretend you got hacked.”

Some fans rushed to stock up. “If anyone wants a bottle of Lipton Peach Iced Tea, I may or may not have bought 345 cases of 12 yesterday,” one wrote.
Another devastated fan shared, “What on earth is wrong with you? You’ve just gone ahead and discontinued Peach Iced Tea, and I can’t even begin to express how utterly heartbroken and disgusted I am.”
Some even took extreme measures. “I quite literally emailed the prime minister about this,” one person claimed.
Lipton’s Sudden U-Turn
By Wednesday morning, Lipton reversed its statement. The brand posted a new message clarifying that Peach Iced Tea was not discontinued.
“Oops, is it still March? Got my dates mixed up… Thought it was April Fools already!” the post read. “I’d never take away your [favourite flavour], pookies.”
The brand also promised surprises for fans with the best reactions. “Your love for Peach has not gone unnoticed,” Lipton added.
The new post received a flood of reactions. Some fans were relieved, while others were unimpressed with the stunt. “Don’t call me pookie after this stunt,” one follower shot back.
A Marketing Move That Worked?
Some saw the prank as a clever marketing move. The uproar drove engagement, with the initial post receiving over 169,000 comments and the follow-up attracting nearly 5,000 comments.
“It made people rush to the stores to get their hands on the last cans,” one user noted. Another added, “Everyone learnt to not take Peach Iced Tea for granted.”
However, not everyone appreciated the joke. “Ohhh it’s personal now. Stocked up till 2036 at LEAST. You owe me compensation, dolls,” one fan joked.
Another revealed they took drastic action. “Yesterday I literally bought like 15 bottles and froze them.”
Lipton Peach Iced Tea Stays for Good
Despite the initial panic, fans can breathe easy. Peach Iced Tea remains on shelves.
While the prank sparked frustration, it also proved just how passionate fans are about their favourite flavour. Lipton may have stirred some chaos, but Iced Tea Peach isn’t going anywhere.
