Canada C$1 Trillion Mining Investment Pitch Leads Global Push

Mining projects dominate Canada's push for C$1 trillion in fresh investment, led by gold, copper and lithium developers.

Ottawa is preparing to put mining front and centre when it pitches investors on the Canada C$1 trillion mining investment plan next week. More than 60 mining projects have been confirmed for the Canada Investment Summit mining projects prospectus, alongside energy and infrastructure proposals.

The Canada Investment Summit will run from 14 Sep 2026 to 15 Sep 2026 in Toronto. This is the first national investment forum that has taken place under Prime Minister Mark Carney.   The event is supported by the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and the Public Sector Pension Investment Board. Because of that, it starts with strong institutional backing.

What Happened at the Canada Investment Summit

A total of 167 projects appear in a 66-page investment prospectus, first reported by CBC News. The document spans mines, energy assets and transport infrastructure across the country.

Ottawa is targeting C$1 trillion in investment over five years. Source reporting on the USD equivalent varies, with figures ranging between US$723 billion and US$1.01 trillion cited across coverage.

Mining represents the single largest category, accounting for 63 of the 167 listed opportunities. Clean energy follows with 31 projects, underlining how central the Canadian mining sector investment story has become to Ottawa’s broader pitch.

Gold and Critical Minerals in Focus

Two names dominate this segment, and both are chasing very different prizes. One is restarting an old mine, the other is chasing a grade that barely exists elsewhere.

Troilus Mining Advances Quebec Gold-Copper Restart

Troilus Mining (TSX: TLG) is moving ahead with plans to restart an old gold and copper mine in Quebec. The work is a C$1.43 billion project. It is planned to last about 26 years. First output is aimed for 2030.

CEO Justin Reid said the Company believes Troilus represents the kind of large-scale, long-life project that can meaningfully contribute to Canada’s future gold and copper output. Reid is expected to attend the summit in person.

Canagold Progresses New Polaris Gold-Antimony Project

Canagold Resources is advancing its New Polaris Project in northwestern British Columbia. The Company describes it as the world’s highest-grade gold-antimony project currently in development.

New Polaris reached feasibility stage last year and is now moving through environmental permitting. CEO Catalin Kilofliski said inclusion in the prospectus recognises the Project as one of Canada’s premier development-stage assets.

Lithium Developers Make the List

Lithium features heavily among the confirmed mining opportunities, reflecting how the Canada C$1 trillion mining investment plan leans on battery metals. Three separate lithium developers appear in the prospectus.

  • E3 Lithium is piloting direct lithium extraction technology at its Clearwater Project in Alberta
  • LithiumBank Resources is advancing the Boardwalk lithium brine Project, located 270 kilometres northwest of Edmonton
  • Critical Elements Lithium is progressing its Rose lithium-tantalum Project in Quebec

E3 Lithium CEO Chris Doornbos said the maturing technology and engineering work continues to demonstrate significant value in Alberta’s lithium resources. He added that producing battery-ready product on site supports Canada’s push to supply the global battery and energy ecosystem.

LithiumBank’s Boardwalk Project holds 5.2 million measured and indicated tonnes of lithium carbonate equivalent, grading 81.6 milligrams lithium per litre. A further 2.78 million inferred tonnes grade 79 milligrams per litre. The Company is also assessing whether former oil wells and pipelines at the depleted South Sturgeon Lake oilfield can lower development costs.

Copper, Nickel and Graphite Add Depth

These are not household names yet, but the numbers behind them are hard to ignore. Between them, they cover three metals central to Canada’s industrial future.

Surge Copper’s Berg Project Anchors Long-Life Supply

Surge Copper’s Berg copper-molybdenum Project in British Columbia is scoped for a 28-year mine life. It is expected to average 176 million pounds of copper production annually.

A June study put the after-tax net present value at C$4.6 billion, using an 8% discount rate. That scale places Berg among the more capital-intensive assets in the entire Canadian mining sector investment slate.

FPX Nickel and Focus Graphite Round Out the Slate

FPX Nickel confirmed its Baptiste Project in central British Columbia has been included in the prospectus. Focus Graphite confirmed its Lac Knife Project in Quebec also made the list.

Together with the lithium and copper developers, these confirmations bring the number of publicly traded miners with confirmed projects to at least eight companies.

The prospectus also includes a proposal for Canada’s first uranium refining and conversion plant in more than 40 years, according to Bloomberg News, which separately reviewed the document.

Industry Outlook: Capital Flows Toward Critical Minerals

Mining companies raised C$10.1 billion on the TSX and TSXV in the year to July, up 75% year-on-year. That surge signals investors already see value building across the Canadian mining sector investment landscape ahead of the summit.

Investors attending the Toronto gathering reportedly oversee more than C$100 trillion in combined assets. Large pension and sovereign wealth funds, however, tend to favour long-life assets and midstream processing plants over finite-life mines.

About Troilus Mining

Troilus Mining is a Canadian gold and copper developer focused on restarting a former producing mine in Quebec. The Troilus Project previously operated as a mine before the Company began advancing plans for a larger-scale restart.

The Company’s namesake Project carries an estimated development cost of C$1.43 billion and a projected operating life of 26 years. First production is targeted for 2030, positioning Troilus among the more advanced assets in the Canada Investment Summit mining projects prospectus.

Broader Investment Push Beyond Mining

Mining forms part of a far larger investment push spanning infrastructure, energy and clean technology across Canada.

With 63 of 167 opportunities coming from mining, the summit places gold, copper and lithium at the centre of Ottawa’s international investment pitch.

Future Direction and Impact on Canada’s Critical Minerals Strategy

Access to the summit does not guarantee financing for every project. Investors remain selective over permitting timelines, infrastructure readiness and construction risk.

Processing plants and long-life assets appear best placed to attract pension and sovereign capital. If the Canada C$1 trillion mining investment strategy succeeds, it could reshape funding access for the entire Canadian mining sector investment pipeline over the next five years.
