Strata Minerals Advances Zelica Gold Project Towards Development with Multiple Technical Workstreams Underway

Strata Minerals (ASX: SMX) is advancing the Zelica Gold Project with metallurgical, environmental and geological programs, while expanding exploration across its prospective 9.5km gold corridor.

Strata Minerals Limited (ASX: SMX) has taken another significant step towards transforming its 100%-owned Zelica Gold Project in Western Australia from an exploration asset into a potential gold-producing operation. The Company announced that multiple pre-development programs are progressing simultaneously under its partnership with BML Ventures, marking another milestone in its development strategy.

The integrated technical programs span metallurgy, geological interpretation, environmental baseline studies and engineering support, all designed to reduce technical uncertainty and strengthen the project’s development pathway.

Importantly, these activities are fully funded through the recently executed Mining Services and Profit Share Agreement with BML Ventures, allowing Strata to advance mine planning while continuing district-scale exploration across the broader Zelica tenure.

Metallurgical Program Designed Around Future Mining Conditions

One of the most significant components of the current development program is the metallurgical test work.

Strata has completed sampling across the Zelica Project to ensure representative material from every major weathering profile expected during future mining operations. The sampling program incorporated:

  • Oxide material collected from the historic low-grade stockpile.
  • Transitional material sourced from both the historic open pit and recent reverse circulation (RC) drilling.
  • Fresh rock collected directly from RC drilling.

Importantly, most samples originated from the main mineralised lode, ensuring the test work reflects the material likely to be processed during mining.

The Company has gathered sufficient material from oxide, transitional and fresh rock domains to prepare representative composite samples. Final composites will be selected once all assay results become available before laboratory metallurgical testing begins.

These studies will provide critical information on gold recovery characteristics, processing performance and future plant design, while also supporting mine scheduling and processing optimisation.

Waste Rock Studies Aim to Improve Mine Planning

Alongside metallurgical testing, Strata has completed an extensive waste rock characterisation program.

Sampling covered material representing the hanging wall, footwall and ore-associated rocks across the proposed mining area. Additional samples were also collected from the historic waste dump and existing low-grade stockpile.

Material sourced from both recent RC drilling and historic pit exposures provides comprehensive geological coverage throughout the proposed mining area.

The Company has also collected samples for Emerson dispersion testing, which will assess material handling characteristics, landform stability and rehabilitation planning.

The Company has commenced geological mapping, structural interpretation, petrological investigations and geochemical studies across the proposed mining area. These programs are designed to provide a more detailed understanding of mineralisation controls, lithological characteristics and the geological framework underpinning the deposit.

Representative samples were collected from every soil horizon within areas that could potentially be disturbed during mine development. Field teams also recorded detailed photographic documentation of both soil profiles and surrounding undisturbed ground.

The collected data will support several important environmental objectives, including:

The Company has completed a high-resolution aeromagnetic survey covering the expanded Zelica tenure using 50-metre line spacing, delivering the first consistent high-resolution magnetic dataset across the project area.

Once processing is completed, the survey is expected to:

  • Enhance understanding of structural controls on gold mineralisation.

Next Steps Focus on Development and Resource Growth

Over the coming months, Strata plans to continue progressing several technical and development initiatives simultaneously.

The Company’s priorities include metallurgical laboratory testing, environmental approval studies, engineering and mine planning, permitting support, development optimisation studies, processing the new aeromagnetic dataset, refining high-priority drill targets, advancing a maiden JORC-compliant Mineral Resource Estimate and continuing exploration across the project’s 9.5 km gold corridor.

Importantly, Zelica already benefits from several strategic advantages. Located within Western Australia’s highly prospective Yundamindra District, between Leonora and Laverton, the project sits within approximately 50 km of multiple deposits exceeding one million ounces of gold and several processing facilities, supporting a potentially low-capex development pathway.

Recent drilling has confirmed approximately 1 km of shallow oxide gold mineralisation that remains open both along strike and at depth, while the broader 9.5 km mineralised corridor remains largely underexplored. The project is also held under a granted mining licence, enabling Strata and its development partner BML Ventures to pursue a capital-light pathway towards potential near-term gold production.
