A Dream Becomes a Reality for Queensland Dad
A Queensland father has won a life-changing $60 million in the Powerball draw, just after daydreaming about it. The Bribie Island man was the sole winner in the Powerball draw on Thursday, 6 February 2025, making him the recipient of the massive prize.
The man shared that he had just drifted off to sleep when he received the call informing him about his win. “No joke, I was just drifting off to sleep dreaming about what it would be like to win the lotto, all the things I could do,” he said.

The father mentioned that the win was particularly special, as he had pledged with a mate to buy tickets for big money draws after having a dream a few months ago. He said it was really strange, but a few months back, he had a vivid dream in which he went into a lottery draw with a mate and their entry had won $40 million.
Since then, his friend has been buying tickets for any draw above $40 million. Luckily, he remembered to buy his ticket, thanks to a reminder from his wife. “Thankfully I had remembered to put a Powerball ticket on when we were out on the deck,” he added.
Winning Numbers
The winning numbers in Powerball draw 1499 were 20, 23, 34, 19, 24, 31, and 10, with the Powerball number being 14. The Queensland man plans to use his newfound fortune to support his family and friends and honour his late mother by buying her favourite vintage car, a Chevy, which she once had to sell.
This win follows another huge lottery payout just days earlier. A Sydney woman claimed a mammoth $100 million in the Powerball, setting a new record for the largest individual winner in the draw’s history.
NSW Couple’s $100,000 Win Helps Rebuild Their Flood-Damaged Home
Meanwhile, a couple from Wisemans Ferry in New South Wales has been blessed with a $100,000 win in the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot, helping them rebuild their home after it was devastated by floods.
The couple, who held the first-prize winning entry in Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw 10925 on Friday, 7 February 2025, was overjoyed when they learned of their win. In addition to the $100,000, they also received a $1,000 consolation prize, bringing their total to $101,000.
The wife was ecstatic when the official call came through. “Oh, my goodness me!” she exclaimed. “I’m just in the car with my husband. I’m so glad we pulled over to answer your call. We’re flabbergasted. What a lovely, wonderful surprise! Thank you so much.”
She shared that their home had been flooded, requiring complete reconstruction. The win will provide a much-needed boost to their efforts. “There were a few things I didn’t think we’d ever get done but this will enable us to finish everything,” she said.
The couple even joked about using any leftover funds for a holiday. They said that they might even take a vacation if there are any leftovers, and this whole thing is hard for them to comprehend.
Their winning entry was purchased on The Lott website, with five consecutive numbers. The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize now stands at $4.6 million for draw 1697, and the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot prize has climbed to $11.16 million for draw 10926.
Australia’s Lottery Wins Continue to Amaze
These wins are part of a series of extraordinary prizes handed out by The Lott, the official home of Australia’s lotteries. In FY24, The Lott awarded over $4.4 billion in prize money, with 147 first-prize and jackpot winners across Australia.
The Lott’s lottery games, including Saturday Lotto, Oz Lotto, Set for Life, Powerball, and Lucky Lotteries, continue to generate millions of winners every year. In addition to awarding life-changing sums, The Lott also contributes over $1.8 billion each year through state lottery taxes and donations that help fund vital community initiatives like hospitals, education, and disaster relief.
For the Queensland father and the Wisemans Ferry couple, these unexpected wins have provided hope and relief in ways they could never have imagined. Whether it’s fulfilling lifelong dreams or rebuilding homes, the power of a lottery win continues to transform lives across Australia.
