Michelle Trachtenberg Dies at 39
Actor Michelle Trachtenberg, best known for her roles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Gossip Girl, has died at 39.
The New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner confirmed she died from complications of diabetes mellitus. The cause was amended after further laboratory results, with the manner of death listed as natural.
The star was found unconscious and unresponsive in her Manhattan apartment on 26 February 2025. She was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
At the time, authorities found no signs of foul play. The medical examiner initially listed the death as undetermined due to her family’s objection to an autopsy. However, following standard lab tests, the final ruling confirmed the long-suspected cause: complications from diabetes mellitus.
