Carbonxt Group Limited (ASX: CG1) has updated investors on its activated carbon plant in Kentucky.
The update, dated 18 August 2026, runs across two fronts. It reports progress on the Kentucky kiln build, and it confirms a further investment in NewCarbon Processing, LLC.
Activated carbon is a treated form of carbon that traps pollutants in air and water. It sits at the core of what the Company makes.
Where the Kentucky Kiln Build Stands
All replacement parts for the kiln have now arrived on-site.
Each part is being tested on its own before it goes in. The Company runs this testing at a dedicated station at the site.
The kiln maker will be at the site in the week of 24 August 2026. It will finish the kiln’s electrical works with Kentucky Carbon Processing (KCP), Carbonxt’s partner on the ground in Kentucky.
All wiring linked to these parts is being replaced as a precaution.
Key points from the kiln update
- All replacement parts have arrived on-site and are being retested one by one

What Carbonxt Makes and Why It Matters
Carbonxt is a cleantech company. It develops and sells specialised activated carbon products.
Its products trap contaminants in industrial processes that release harmful pollutants.
The Company makes two main products. It makes Powdered Activated Carbon, and it makes Activated Carbon pellets.
These go into industrial air cleaning, wastewater treatment, and other liquid and gas phase jobs.
The Kentucky plant sits at the centre of the Company’s move into US manufacturing.
The US Activated Carbon Market Backdrop
Demand for activated carbon in the United States is tied closely to clean water and clean air rules.
One driver is PFAS. These are man-made chemicals, often called forever chemicals, that build up in water and in the body.
In 2024, the US Environmental Protection Agency set the first federal drinking water limits for two PFAS, PFOA and PFOS, at 4 parts per trillion. Those limits still stand. In May 2026, the EPA proposed giving water systems until 2031 to meet them.
Granular activated carbon is one of the main ways utilities strip PFAS from drinking water.
The wider market keeps growing. Analysts value the global activated carbon market at about US$4.16 billion in 2026, rising to US$5.47 billion by 2031. That points to steady demand for the products the Kentucky plant is built to make.

The Kentucky kiln has been a steady thread through that story.
