Influencer brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate are set to face serious criminal charges in the United Kingdom, following an official confirmation from the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS). The brothers, both dual British-American citizens, will be extradited from Romania once ongoing criminal proceedings there are resolved.
According to a statement issued by the CPS on Wednesday, a total of 21 charges have been authorised. Andrew Tate, 38, is facing 10 charges, including rape, human trafficking, causing actual bodily harm, and controlling prostitution for personal gain. These charges are linked to three alleged victims. His younger brother, Tristan Tate, 36, has been charged with 11 offences, also including rape, human trafficking, and actual bodily harm, involving one alleged victim.
European Arrest Warrant Issued by Bedfordshire Police
The legal process was initiated after a file of evidence was submitted by Bedfordshire police. A European arrest warrant was issued in England in 2024, prompting Romanian courts to approve their extradition. However, UK authorities must wait until Romanian criminal proceedings are complete before taking custody of the brothers.
The CPS emphasised that the criminal process remains active and urged the public and media to avoid commentary or content that could influence the proceedings, stating: “Everyone is entitled to a fair trial.”

Allegations Date Back to 2012–2015
The UK charges stem from alleged offences committed between 2012 and 2015. These allegations are separate from the charges the Tates are currently facing in Romania, where they are accused of trafficking minors, engaging in sexual relations with a minor, and money laundering. In addition, another case in Romania – involving accusations of human trafficking and forming an organised criminal group to sexually exploit women – has been sent back to prosecutors for further action.

Andrew Tate is also the subject of a civil lawsuit filed by four women who claim to be victims of sexual violence. These women originally brought complaints to UK authorities in 2014, but the case was closed in 2019 without prosecution. Tate has denied all allegations.
Victims’ Lawyer Calls for Broader Prosecution
Lawyer Matt Jury, who represents some of the alleged British victims, welcomed the new charges and the clarity from the CPS. However, he called for further accountability, urging the CPS to revisit its decision not to prosecute earlier allegations from 2014.
“These women were failed by the system,” Jury said. “It is vital that the CPS finally charges Andrew Tate for the rape and assault reported by the original complainants. They deserve justice, too.”
The earlier case, which had been under the jurisdiction of Hertfordshire police, was closed in 2019 without formal charges being brought against either brother.
Controversial Rise to Fame
Andrew Tate, a former professional kickboxer, gained global notoriety for his controversial social media presence. With more than 10 million followers on X (formerly Twitter), he has built an online persona centred on wealth, hyper-masculinity, and dominance. His digital academy, “Hustlers University,” claims to teach young men how to become rich and attract women.
The Tate brothers, born to a British catering assistant and an American chess master who served in the US Air Force, were raised in Luton, Bedfordshire. Over the years, they have cultivated an image of affluence, frequently showcasing luxury cars, private jets, and high-end lifestyles on social media platforms.
Awaiting Justice in Two Nations
The extradition timeline remains dependent on the conclusion of Romanian legal proceedings. Only once those matters are resolved will UK authorities proceed with bringing the brothers back to face charges in their home country. Until then, the eyes of both the Romanian and British public remain fixed on developments in what has become one of the most high-profile international criminal cases in recent years.
The CPS reiterated the importance of ensuring an andrew impartial judicial process and warned against any reporting that could compromise the integrity of the proceedings.
