“The thing to understand here is that our responsibility to [owner] Jody Allen and the 12s is to do what’s absolutely best for the organization,” Schneider said. “And then, of course, what’s best for the player. Hopefully, both those things align in an ideal situation. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don’t.”

While Schneider did not confirm specifics, sources indicate that Las Vegas is exploring the possibility of acquiring Metcalf. “You definitely want to know what’s going on before draft time,” Schneider said. “Because he’s such an important part of our team and the offensive philosophy that our new coaching staff wants to implement, we need to know how to move forward if he’s not with us.”
Metcalf’s Trade Request Overshadowed Tyler Lockett’s Release
The timing of Metcalf’s trade request was an unfortunate distraction for the Seahawks, as it coincided with the team’s announcement of Tyler Lockett’s release. The organization had planned for the day to be a celebration of Lockett’s decade-long tenure in Seattle, but instead, much of the attention shifted toward Metcalf’s situation.

“He’s a great worker, he’s a pro, and he always shows up ready to compete,” Schneider said. “I understand where he’s coming from. He’s 27 years old, he has high expectations for himself, and he should. There’s no harm, no foul—we’ll get through this.”
Schneider also dismissed concerns about Metcalf becoming a locker-room distraction if he remains with the team for the final year of his contract.
“DK is a very good communicator,” Schneider said. “He understands the business side of the league, and if things don’t go the way he wants, he knows there’s a chance he’ll be back here in Seattle. At that point, we all turn the page and move forward.”
