Laurence Fox to Face Court Over Alleged Unlawful Sharing of Narinder Kaur Photo

Laurence Fox to Face Court Over Alleged Unlawful Sharing Of Narinder Kaur

Actor-Turned-Politician Faces Court Over Alleged Offence

Laurence Fox has been charged with a sexual offence after allegedly sharing a compromising image of TV presenter Narinder Kaur on social media.

The 46-year-old is set to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 24 April. The Metropolitan Police confirmed the charge under section 66A of the Sexual Offences Act 2003.

Authorities launched an investigation into the case, which lasted several months before they decided to prosecute Fox.

Allegations and Police Investigation

Fox allegedly posted the image of Narinder Kaur on social media in April 2024. Kaur, 52, is a broadcaster known for her appearances on Good Morning Britain and GB News.

The police began their investigation after Kaur publicly condemned the act. The investigation concluded with formal charges against Fox.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson stated:
“A man has been charged with a sexual offence following an investigation by the Metropolitan Police. Laurence Fox, 46, will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on April 24 charged with an offence contrary to section 66A of the Sexual Offences Act 2003.”

Narinder Kaur’s Reaction

Kaur described the incident as “unimaginably mortifying” in a post on X. She did not provide further public statements after Fox’s charge.

Fox, in response, apologised to Kaur but claimed it was not his “fault” that the image was taken over 15 years ago.

Legal Implications

Section 66A of the Sexual Offences Act 2003 covers the intentional sharing of intimate images without consent. The law criminalises such actions if they cause alarm, distress, humiliation, or are for sexual gratification.

Convictions under this law can result in up to two years in prison. Offenders may also be placed on the sex offenders register.

Upskirting became a specific criminal offence in 2019. Sharing upskirting images, even if taken by others, is illegal.

Fox’s Response

Fox criticised the legal proceedings in a recent post on X. He described the charge as “untrue, ridiculous, vexatious and malicious nonsense.”

He wrote:
“This is yet another deeply concerning example of the two-tier British ‘justice’ system in all its Soviet glory. I will deal with this untrue, ridiculous, vexatious and malicious nonsense just like last time they tried it on. How much more time, effort and taxpayer money are the @metpoliceuk going to spend ignoring actual crimes in their efforts to silence ordinary British people? Fight! Fight! Fight!”

Fox had taken a break from social media but returned to address the charge.

Fox’s Political and Media Career

Fox, from Peldon, Essex, transitioned from acting to political activism in recent years. He appeared in Lewis and Gosford Park before shifting his focus to politics.

He launched the Reclaim Party and stood unsuccessfully for London Mayor. He became a vocal critic of mainstream politics and media.

Fox was dismissed from GB News in October 2023 after controversial remarks about journalist Ava Evans.

Court Proceedings

Fox’s hearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 24 April will determine the next legal steps. The court will assess the evidence presented against him.

Authorities continue to monitor online offences, reinforcing the consequences of sharing explicit content without consent.

Legal experts suggest that the case could set an important precedent for handling online image-based offences. The outcome may influence future legal actions involving similar allegations.

The case has also sparked public debate on online accountability and the impact of sharing intimate images without consent.

Critics argue that stricter measures should be introduced to prevent such incidents. Supporters of stronger laws believe that social media platforms must do more to remove harmful content.
