Gisella Colletti Stands Tall as WAs Hope in Australian Idol’s 2025 Grand Finale

Three Finalists Compete for 2025 Title

Australian Idol’s 2025 grand finale launched Sunday night. Western Australia’s Gisella Colletti, New South Wales’ Iilysh Retallick, and Queensland’s Marshall Hamburger took the stage. The trio showcased their talent across solo and duet performances. Each artist demonstrated their journey from auditions to the grand final.

Gisella Colletti Performs Whitney Houston Classic

Gisella Colletti, a 17-year-old student from Corpus Christi College, performed Whitney Houston’s How Will I Know. She wore a sparkling pink skirt and matching halter-neck shirt. Her calf-length boots featured pink studs.

Her stage setup included a vivid pink platform and musicians in hot pink attire. The performance aimed to deliver a full pop experience. Judge Amy Shark reacted positively.

“My mind is blown. You are such an incredible artist,” Shark said.

Tina Arena Joins Gisella on Stage

Gisella performed Heaven Help My Heart with Tina Arena. The performance drew a standing ovation from the judging panel.

“(It was) an absolute pinch me moment — Tina’s my idol,” Gisella said. Tears followed her performance beside the celebrated Australian artist.

Gisella Seeks Historic Victory for WA

Gisella hopes to become the first Australian Idol from Western Australia. No female contestant has won since the show’s reboot in 2023.

“There has never been a Aussie Idol from Perth WA or a female winner since the Australian Idol Reboot in 2023. Help me bring the australian idol title home to WA in 2025,” she wrote in a weekend post.

Iilysh Retallick Represents NSW

Seventeen-year-old Iilysh Retallick from Culcairn, NSW performed Boys in Town by the Divinyls. Her stage presence received positive reactions from the audience.

Her duet with Andrew Stockdale from Wolfmother followed. They performed Joker and the Thief, thrilling the crowd.

“That felt amazing, I’m singing with Andrew Stockdale from Wolfmother!” Iilysh said after her performance.

Marshall Hamburger Delivers Farnham Classic

Nineteen-year-old Marshall Hamburger performed Playing to Win. The song was made famous by John Farnham and the Little River Band. Marshall added his own interpretation.

He later joined Leo Sayer for a disco duet of You Make Me Feel Like Dancing. The collaboration drew an energetic response from both the audience and judges.

Marshall Eyes the Final Prize

“The fact that I’m this close has made me want to win even more. Every note I sing on this stage really counts. This performance is the last hurdle to becoming the Australian Idol,” Marshall said.

Live Finale to Reveal Winner on Monday

The grand finale continues Monday night at 7:30pm on Seven and 7Plus. The winner will be announced around 9pm. The final will also include a performance from Idol legend Guy Sebastian and a return of the Top 12 contestants.

Public Voting Open Until 5pm Monday

Voting lines remain open until 5pm Monday. Viewers can vote up to ten times by texting “Name” to 0457 500 700. The voting outcome will determine who becomes Australian Idol 2025.

Past Idol Winners Make Guest Appearances

Judge Marcia Hines performed She Works Hard for the Money with Casey Donovan. Casey also reunited with fellow Idol alum Ricki-Lee, reflecting on their 2004 season. Casey won the title that year.

WA Community Rallies Behind Gisella

Friends and family of Gisella have organised a public viewing at The Victoria Park Hotel. Supporters are invited to watch the grand final together on large screens.

Corpus Christi College also supports Gisella. Staff and students decorated the school library with posters and photos of the finalist.

Winner to Receive Major Prize Package

The winner of Australian Idol 2025 will earn $100,000. The prize also includes a recording package with Hive Sound Studios. The winner secures the Australian Idol 2025 title.

Last year’s winner, Dylan Wright, received a recording contract with Sony Music Australia. He told Yahoo Lifestyle he planned to take a holiday with his wife and children.

“The first thing I’m going to do is have a little trip away with the girls and just be a family for the first time in three months. I’ll have the phone off and just kind of drink in the moment,” Wright said.
