Fiorentina Midfielder Edoardo Bove in Intensive Care After On-Field Collapse

Fiorentina midfielder Edoardo Bove, a 22-year-old talent currently on loan from Roma, is now in intensive care after a sudden and shocking collapse during a Serie A match against Inter Milan on Sunday. He lost consciousness during the game and was swiftly rushed to Careggi University Hospital in Florence.

The club released an update on his condition, stating:
“ACF Fiorentina and the Careggi University Hospital have announced that footballer Edoardo Bove, who was treated on the pitch following a loss of consciousness during the Fiorentina v Inter match, is currently under sedation and is hospitalised in intensive care. The Viola player arrived at the emergency department in stable haemodynamic conditions, and initial cardiological and neurological tests ruled out acute damage to the central nervous system and the cardiorespiratory system. Bove will be re-evaluated in the next 24 hours.”

Incident During Match

The incident occurred during a break in play as a VAR decision was being reviewed. Bove, who appeared to be adjusting his boot, suddenly collapsed. The medical teams, showing remarkable speed and efficiency, immediately rushed to his aid while Fiorentina players formed a protective ring around their teammate.

Reports from Sky Sport Italia indicate that Bove was breathing independently and had regained consciousness when he was transported to the hospital. However, he remains under sedation for further evaluation and care.

Following Bove’s removal from the pitch in an ambulance, the referee halted the game, and players returned to their dressing rooms. Serie A later confirmed that the match would be rescheduled.

Support from the Football Community

Fiorentina fans quickly gathered outside Careggi Hospital to support Bove, displaying banners wishing him a swift recovery.

The club’s president, Rocco Commisso, expressed his concern and sent a message of encouragement from the United States:
“Forza Edoardo, we’re with you. You’re a strong boy with a great character. We’re reaching out to the boy’s family during these moments.”

Interchairman Giuseppe Marotta explained the decision to suspend the match, saying:
“Football is a community, so naturally, when these situations happen, all the players and the referee worked together to help, and it was a spontaneous decision to abandon the game.”

Bove’s parent club, Roma, also shared a message of solidarity on social media, writing:
“One of us, we are all with you. Forza Edo!”

Match Postponed

Serie A has confirmed that the Fiorentina vs. Inter match will be replayed later. Both clubs and the wider football community continue to monitor Bove’s condition and send their best wishes to the midfielder and his family.

Edoardo Bove’s situation has sparked an outpouring of support, underlining the solidarity and compassion that defines the football world in moments of crisis.
