Culpeo Minerals Limited (ASX: CPO; OTCID: CPORF) (“Culpeo” or the “Company”) has identified two strong chargeability anomalies at its Fortuna Project in Chile, providing the Company with two new priority targets for diamond drilling.
The anomalies emerged from a recently completed Induced Polarisation (IP) survey at the El Quillay North Prospect and the newly defined El Quillay West Prospect. Importantly, both targets coincide with surface copper mineralisation and alteration, while previous rock-chip sampling returned assays exceeding 1.0% copper in areas overlying the geophysical responses.

Culpeo plans to test the targets through an initial 500 metres of diamond drilling, comprising one 250-metre hole at each anomaly. Drilling will begin after the current El Quillay South programme concludes.
IP Survey Strengthens the Fortuna Exploration Story
Culpeo commenced its Pole-Dipole IP survey at the Fortuna Project in early July. The programme covered 10 survey lines and 24 line kilometres across several high-priority copper-gold targets, including La Florida, El Quillay North, El Quillay South and Piedra Dura.
The Company designed the survey to identify chargeable and electrically conductive anomalies that could indicate sulphide minerals and geological structures below the surface. Five southern survey lines, oriented east-west, subsequently defined two strong chargeability anomalies at El Quillay North and El Quillay West.
The geophysical results gain further significance because they overlap with several surface geological indicators. Mapping identified hydrothermal alteration and copper-oxide mineralisation across numerous locations, while historical rock-chip sampling produced copper grades above 1% over both IP anomalies.
The key exploration indicators include:
- Strong IP chargeability responses potentially associated with copper sulphide mineralisation.
- Surface copper mineralisation and hydrothermal alteration directly associated with the anomalies.
- Previous rock-chip assays exceeding 1.0% copper above both targets.
Strong IP chargeability anomalies can result from disseminated copper sulphide mineralisation, including mineralisation associated with porphyry and Iron Oxide Copper Gold (IOCG)-style systems found along Chile’s IOCG belt.

El Quillay North Delivers a Large-Scale Target
The El Quillay North anomaly represents a substantial exploration target. The IP response on survey line L2050N comprises two chargeability highs measuring approximately 500 metres by 200 metres and 300 metres by 200 metres.
Culpeo interprets the deeper chargeability response as potentially representing the source of known copper veins at surface. These copper veins have also been historically mined on a small scale, providing an important geological connection between the surface mineralisation and the deeper geophysical response.
The surrounding geology further supports the Company’s interpretation. Quillay hosts volcanic and volcaniclastic sequences containing veins and fractures associated with iron-oxide and copper-oxide minerals. Dioritic intrusives occur within the IP survey area and show silica-albite-sericite alteration alongside copper oxide, iron oxide, specular hematite and jarosite mineralisation.
Culpeo plans to test this anomaly with a 250-metre diamond drill hole.

El Quillay West Adds a New Exploration Opportunity
The IP programme has also identified a previously unrecognised prospect at El Quillay West.
A discrete 300-metre by 300-metre “bullseye” chargeability anomaly occurs along survey line L1700N. Culpeo describes it as the strongest response identified from the southern IP lines and considers it potentially associated with copper sulphide mineralisation.
The new target gives Culpeo an additional opportunity to test for mineralisation beyond its existing exploration areas. The Company has planned a 250-metre diamond drill hole to test the anomaly at depth.

Culpeo Prepares for Continuous Drilling and Assay Results
The Company has designed an initial 500-metre diamond drilling programme across the two new targets. One 250-metre hole will test each anomaly, with drilling scheduled to commence following completion of the ongoing El Quillay South programme.
Culpeo’s Non-Executive Chairman Geoff McNamara said:
“We are delighted that the IP survey has already defined two additional drill targets that we know are associated with surface mineralisation. Drilling of these targets will commence immediately following the completion of drilling at the El Quillay South which is in progress, so we expect a continuous flow of assay results over the coming months”.
McNamara’s comments highlight the Company’s intention to maintain exploration momentum at Fortuna. Results from El Quillay South will precede drilling at the newly defined targets, creating several potential assay milestones for investors to monitor.
Fortuna Benefits from Chilean Copper Setting
Fortuna forms part of Culpeo’s broader copper-focused portfolio in Chile, a leading copper-producing jurisdiction. The Company is targeting high-grade copper systems within the infrastructure-rich Coastal Cordillera, a proven belt hosting major copper deposits.
The Fortuna and Lana Corina Projects are located in Chile’s Coquimbo Region, approximately 350 kilometres north of Santiago and close to the Los Pelambres mine. The Company highlights the availability of road access, power transmission, water and a skilled local mining workforce around its projects as important factors for potential future development.

Fortuna itself covers a sizeable land position. Culpeo has agreements in place to earn up to 80% of 21 exploitation concessions covering approximately 1,775 hectares. The Company also holds 100% ownership of 31 exploration concessions covering approximately 5,516 hectares.
The project is associated with a north-south to northwest-oriented structural belt extending approximately 6 kilometres long and 500 metres wide. Mineralisation is predominantly copper, with accessory gold, silver and molybdenum, and is structurally controlled and associated with breccias and intrusive units.
Exploration Programme Provides Near-Term Catalysts
Culpeo enters the next phase of exploration with several developments to monitor. The immediate focus remains the completion of drilling at El Quillay South, followed by drilling at El Quillay North and El Quillay West.
The key upcoming catalysts include:
- Completion of the current El Quillay South drilling programme.
- Initial 500 metres of diamond drilling across the two new IP targets.
- Maiden diamond drilling programme and the Vista Montana Prospect.
- Assay results from the Company’s ongoing and planned drilling campaigns.
The upcoming drilling will determine whether the strong geophysical responses represent significant copper sulphide mineralisation at depth. While the IP results and surface observations provide encouraging exploration indicators, the Company has not yet established the grade, thickness or continuity of any mineralisation beneath these anomalies.
Importantly, Culpeo notes that the existing rock-chip samples represent point samples and cannot be used to estimate the grade of a broader area.
Share Price Performance and Investor’s Outlook
Culpeo Minerals’ latest exploration announcement comes as the Company’s shares trade at $0.012 on the ASX. The stock has recorded a 9.09% gain over the past year, outperforming the ASX 200’s 7.83% increase over the same period.
