Jetstar Club Member Access and Booking Conditions

Club Jetstar members receive early access to sale fares by paying a $65 membership fee. The airline has confirmed that the sale excludes checked baggage.

Record-Breaking Tourism in Japan

Japan remains a top destination for Australian travellers. In 2024, Japan received 36.9 million visitors, surpassing the previous record of 31.9 million in 2019. Nearly one million visitors came from Australia.

Australian National University’s Australia-Japanese Research Centre director Dr Shiro Armstrong told ABC that dining in Japan remains cost-effective. “Eating out in Japan is very affordable compared to Australia because of its low wages,” he said.

“Japan has only recently escaped decades of mild deflation,” he added. “So prices have barely changed since 1990 when Japan’s big asset bubble burst and brought an end to the high growth era.”

Dr Armstrong also noted a shift in tourism flows. “The tourist flows used to be dominated by Japanese visitors to Australia but with Japanese economic stagnation and the weak yen, we’ve seen a reversal.”

Flight Sale Encourages Travel to Korea

Jetstar’s promotion also includes discounted flights to South Korea. Brisbane to Seoul flights are available from $155, and Sydney to Seoul fares begin at $170.

Melbourne-based passengers can fly to Seoul via Sydney for $270. The airline highlighted South Korea’s growing popularity among Australian travellers due to its cultural attractions and cuisine.

Ongoing Travel Demand Across Asia

The recent sale by Jetstar is due to the high demand of cheap travel services in Asia. The pricing strategy of the airline will be achieved in terms of capturing the market share and increasing the tourism relationship between Australia and the major cities in Asia.

As tourism in Japan booms with many foreigners visiting the country due to the low currency, Jetstar airlines among other airlines remain essential.

This announcement fits with new traveling trends and the increased interest of the Australian population in the Japanese and Korean resorts as a tourist destination.
