Woolworths has introduced a new price reduction strategy for nearly 400 products, including a variety of their exclusive brands and Australian favourites. This price cut, averaging a 10 per cent reduction, aims to save shoppers money in the long run, with potential savings of up to $15 on a weekly $150 grocery bill.
These lower prices will be rolled out starting May 14 and will remain in place until 2026. For this week’s supermarket comparison, we’ve tested these new prices against their closest competitors: Coles and Aldi.

Final Thoughts: Aldi Dominates, But Woolworths and Coles Still Offer Value
Out of the 11 items tested, Aldi had the lowest prices in nine categories. Woolworths and Coles each had the lowest prices in two categories: Coca Cola and sandwich bread, respectively.
Woolworths’ price cuts are a step in the right direction, especially in their effort to save customers up to $15 on a weekly $150 shop. However, Aldi remains the overall winner for the most affordable staple groceries, offering lower prices across a range of categories. The company and Coles are still competitive on certain products, but customers who shop around may find it pays to visit multiple stores.
It is expected that Coles will follow suit with price matches on some of these products when Woolworths’ new pricing takes effect from May 14.
