Deep Yellow ASX DYL: Tumas Funding Takes Centre Stage

Deep Yellow has postponed an investment decision for the Deep Yellow Tumas project to Q4 2026, but concrete is already being poured in Namibia. This is exactly what has changed and why.
Deep Yellow ASX DYL: Tumas Funding Takes Centre Stage

Deep Yellow (ASX: DYL) has delayed its Q4 2026 expected date for a Final Investment Decision (FID). It concerns its Tumas Uranium Project in Namibia, its flagship.

The current equity market conditions are not conducive to an FID in Q4 2026, management says. But construction hasn’t halted. Civil works have started as planned. All current civils and concrete works are funded from cash reserves.

This enables additional disciplined de-risking prior to any FID, the company said in its ASX announcement. The message for the followers of Deep Yellow ASX: DYL is clear. The money has been moved on, but the building is moving on.

Deep Yellow Tumas Project: Why Funding Plans Have Shifted

What is the reason for the change in the timeline? That’s due to weak equity markets, says Managing Director and CEO Greg Field.

Bad times for uranium developers persist, he says. Field describes Tumas as a “world-class” project and a “fully permitted project” in a “Tier 1 jurisdiction”. He also refers to strong fundamentals in the uranium market worldwide.

Despite this, the company feels it’s a sensible strategy to delay FID beyond Q4 2026. It is hoping Tumas is well positioned to move forward when it is time.

How will Deep Yellow bridge the gap? It will keep the momentum of construction going and continue its funding approach.

That leaves the funding for the Tumas Uranium Project as the investors’ top priority. In the meantime, optimisation work is ongoing, and a new value model is almost finished. A detailed project report will be produced when the project is complete.

It will outline the new economics and the next development phase. So the Deep Yellow Tumas Project is still a tale of incremental progress and gradual pacing.

How Construction Is Progressing on Site

Several efforts are proceeding at the same time. Key milestones include:

  • There are two concrete contractors on site, working throughout CCD, Clarification, Leach and Beneficiation.
  • Around 170 tonnes of rebar have been laid.
  • All seven CCD and one Clarifier centre bosses have been approved to pour. Pours have started on the set-up bosses.
  • There are six Leach Tank ring beams and two Cold Leach Feed Tank ring beams that are all blinded in concrete.
  • It is expected that all 6 ring beams will be completed by the end of December 2026.
  • The off-site pre-casting of the Retained Earth (RE) wall panels in Swakopmund is on schedule, with 26% cast.
  • The excavation work for Run of Mine (ROM) and Primary Mill is finished and is close to completion in the Primary Mill.

Local Contracts and Environmental Approvals Secured

How do local people spend their money? Deep Yellow has four enabling contracts with Namibian suppliers. They total N3.7M). The packages include fuel, raw water, waste management, and dust suppression services.

On 2 October 2026, Namibia’s Environmental Commissioner also renewed the Environmental Clearance Certificates (ECCs). The Project Area and water pipeline ECCs extend until 26th September 2029.

The powerline ECC will be active until 27 September 2029. New Environmental Management Plans will be in effect during construction, development and operations.
