Powerball Jackpot Climbs to $950 Million Ahead of Saturday Draw, Topping Six-Month Streak Without a Winner

Powerball Jackpot Climbs to $950 Million Ahead of Saturday Draw, Topping Six-Month Streak Without a Winner

Record Powerball Jackpot Set for Saturday

The Powerball jackpot increased to an estimated $950 million ahead of Saturday’s draw. The massive jackpot stands as the game’s sixth-largest jackpot and the biggest marketed jackpot in over a year. If a lucky participant secures the win, they can choose between an annuitised prize of $950 million or a lump sum payment of $428.9 million. Both options remain subject to taxes. Officials report players will receive one immediate payment, then 29 annual payments that grow by 5% each year, if they select the annuity option.

No Winner Yet as Jackpot Rolls Over

The winning ticket keeps rolling because no one won all six numbers on Wednesday night. The August 27 winning numbers are white balls 9, 12, 22, 41, 61 and the winning red Powerball 25. The Power Play multiplier landed on four. This marks the 39th draw since a winner last claimed the jackpot in California on May 31, 2025.

The jackpot now rolls over to nearly a billion

Prizes Awarded Across Multiple States

On Wednesday, the drawing generated six tickets that secured at least $1 million each. Ticket buyers in Arizona, New York, and Virginia took the $1 million wins. Participants in Mississippi, Ohio, and Virginia boosted their gains to $2 million by selecting the Power Play option for an extra $1.

Another 40 tickets yielded $50,000 prizes, while ten brought in $200,000 wins. The Double Play drawing awarded a South Dakota ticket holder $500,000 after matching all five black balls. Double Play presents a $1 add-on feature, which lets players to  re-use their numbers for a second chance at a prize up to $10 million.

Ticket Sales Strengthen Across the US

Powerball officials confirmed an uptick in player interest and ticket sales. “America has signaled loud and clear – it’s ready to play for a massive Powerball jackpot!” stated Matt Strawn, Powerball Product Group Chair and Iowa Lottery CEO. He confirmed Powerball ticket sales have doubled in the past week.

Game leaders increased the midweek jackpot, with sales momentum pushing the total to $850 million just before Wednesday’s draw. The cash value for that draw reached $383.7 million. The robust sales streak ushered in 56 winning tickets worth $1 million or more, and 558 tickets worth $50,000 or greater.
