Toyota Australia recalls 2025 Camry, Corolla, and RAV4 due to display screen fault

Toyota Australia

Overview

Highly popular vehicles, including SUVs, sedans, and hatchbacks, were recalled due to a potential display screen fault detected in the instrument panel, prompting Toyota Australia to recall around 70,000 vehicles sold across the country. Both hybrid and gasoline variants featured a blank 12.3-inch display, which raised safety concerns.

A Toyota recall was announced today, even as 69,586 cars sold between July 2022 and April 2025 are experiencing a display screen issue. While the impact was not seen on all vehicles, the hybrid Corolla, Camry, Kluger, and RAV4 were potentially faulty.

The 12.3-inch display screen would be blank even as the vehicle is started. A recall notice issued by the company said, “Without a speedometer or any other vehicle safety warning display, there are increased risks of accidents, particularly in specific driving conditions.”

Typically, the display system features a combination of information, including gauges, messages, warnings, and alert messages. For instance, the RAV4 Hybrid’s fault with the display screen would prevent it from showing crucial driver information, navigation, and basic vehicle settings.

The Problem

The 12.3-inch display monitor displays a variety of information, and inappropriate programming leads to repeated writing of unwanted information into a memory device within the meter when it is operational. Consequently, even when the ignition is turned on, the monitor remains in this mode. The display screen issue could lead to an accident if alerts and warning signs are not emitted on time. It is assured, though, that the vehicle’s warranty remains unaffected during this time. Impacted individuals can visit the Toyota website to verify their eligibility by entering their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).

Driving despite the issue

Driving their cars should not be a problem for vehicle owners despite the instrument panel error. Users encountering issues can contact the hotline, which is especially meant to address the fault. Toyota’s support line 1800 987 366 is always available for those who visualise unusual activity, such as screen flickering, no display when the car is turned on, or missing alert signals or information.
