Sony Interactive Entertainment delivered a special PlayStation State of Play livestream on November 11, 2025. The broadcast ran for over 40 minutes and focused on games developed in Japan and across Asia. It included gameplay reveals, new game announcements, release dates, and updates on anticipated titles. New Hardware Announcements
Sony announced a new PlayStation 5 model for the Japanese market. This version will be an all-digital PS5 with Japanese-language locking and priced lower than the standard edition. It aims to stimulate PS5 sales in Japan by offering a more affordable option. The new model will be available on November 21, 2025.
Alongside this, Sony revealed the official PlayStation 27-inch monitor. The screen features DualSense controller charging functionality, improving convenience for players. The monitor supports enhanced visual quality targeted to PS5 users.
Game Updates and Expansions
One highlight was the announcement of the Elden Ring Nightreign expansion, titled The Forsaken Hollows. Scheduled for release on December 4, 2025, this DLC adds new areas and challenges to the base game.
Gran Turismo 7 will receive its first paid downloadable content pack, the Power Pack, also releasing December 4. This update introduces additional cars and tracks to expand gameplay options.
Monster Hunter Wilds will get a large free title update, Update 4, arriving on December 16. The update adds the Giant Halberd Dragon, Gogmazios, as an endgame foe along with seasonal events and performance improvements.
New Game Reveals and Release Dates
BlazBlue Entropy Effect X, a roguelike spin-off of the popular anime-style fighting game series, has a confirmed release date of February 12, 2026. It features 14 characters from BlazBlue and deep character build options. Pre-orders are open.
The psychological horror anthology BrokenLore revealed two expansions during the event. BrokenLore: Unfollow, themed around the dark side of social media, will release January 16, 2026. The previously unannounced BrokenLore: Ascend is set in Tokyo and introduces survival horror with climbing gameplay.
Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls will launch its next closed beta on December 5, 2025. The update adds Spider-Man and Ghost Rider to the playable roster, bringing the total to eight characters. Two new stages, Savage Land and X-Mansion, complete with unique interactive gameplay elements, are included.
Never Grave: The Witch and The Curse, a 2D roguelike, is scheduled for March 5, 2026, on PS4 and PS5. Pre-orders started on the day of the broadcast.
Tokyo Xtreme Racer returns after 20 years on February 26, 2026. It offers players the chance to race on recreated highways in Tokyo against 400 rivals. Its unique Spirit Point system requires a balance of speed and willpower to succeed.
The RPG Wandering Sword will launch May 28, 2026. It uses pixel-art style and offers twenty endings shaped by player choices. It includes dual battle modes and Japanese voice acting by an all-Japanese cast.
Additional Game Content and Collaborations
The show announced collaboration DLC for Super Robot Wars Y available November 20, 2025. It features units and missions based on Galactic Whirlwind Bryger, The Big O, and Fūto PI: Portrait of Kamen Rider Skull.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will add new characters including Nights, AiAi, and Tangle & Whisper as free racers. The SpongeBob SquarePants pack will release in late November as paid DLC.
The show also highlighted inKONBINI, described as a cosy game set in a small convenience store in Japan. It is due for release in 2026.
MotionRec, launching spring 2026, is a puzzle-action title involving recording and replaying player movements to solve challenges and explore ruins in a machine-dominated world.

International Impact and PlayStation 5 Sales
Sony has sold more than 84 million PlayStation 5 consoles to date. The State of Play Japan event reinforced the company’s ongoing focus on expanding its Japanese and Asian game offerings globally.
