There was a man killed after he was fatally stabbed in a shopping center car park in Lake Macquarie in New South Wales. At about 9.50 am, police were asked to attend to an allegedly assaulted woman on the Pacific Highway at Charlestown.

Car Park Funny Things.
On Wednesday, 20 August 2025, at approximately 9.50 am, emergency services were called to the car park of the shopping center. One man was alleged to have been assaulted at the car park.
The police were called and encountered the victim unconscious. The nature of the injury that the victim received was consistent with stabbing. The man was declared dead before the paramedics could treat or even attend to him. Police are yet to identify him.
How Did Police Respond?
The police from Lake Macquarie Police District quickly established a crime scene to secure evidence. The area was sealed off with detectives and forensic officers beginning some investigations.
Residents and workers in nearby shops were ordered to remain indoors as police sought the suspect. The arsenal of weapons carried by the suspect when first seen fleeing the scene remains to be verified by police.
Was a Suspect Witnessed Fleeing the Scene?
Police have also been informed that a second man had been seen running along the Pacific Highway shortly after the attack. This was relayed to the police at the scene by witnesses.
Police are probing whether the individual who was seen running was a participant in the attack or a witness who ran away. Detectives are encouraging anyone who might have observed the man to actually inform them what they saw.
What Have Witnesses Learned in Parliament This Far?
The victim was approximately 60, according to the news sources in the area, like the Daily Telegraph. The victim was found dead of an attack that occurred during the day, with some consumers visibly reckless after such an occurrence.
It is yet to be ascertained by the police whether an argument had already occurred before the attack or not. CCTV in the area and the shopping centre CCTV are being studied by the police in order to see what happened.

Police are asking anybody who happened to be in the area to present themselves. Specifically, police would seek the dashcam or phone footage that can be used in the identification of an offender.

The Charlestown stabbing has resulted in the opening of a full police inquiry, and the police are following up on some lines of investigation.
