Green Growth Mission in Thailand
Austrade will lead a green economy trade mission to Thailand from 1–2 October 2025. The mission is designed for Australian businesses with expertise across the sustainability supply chain.
Thai conglomerates outlined key sustainability challenges, creating opportunities for collaboration in energy, waste management, carbon reduction, agtech, low carbon materials, biochemicals, recycling, and haze mitigation.
The two‑day in‑market program forms part of the Australia Southeast Asia Business Exchange. It will connect Australian exporters with Thai businesses driving progress towards carbon neutrality.

Thailand’s Path to Net Zero
Thailand targets carbon neutrality by 2050 and net zero emissions by 2065. Rather, the government focuses on decarbonisation of the energy, transport, construction, agriculture, and manufacturing sectors.
Big businesses are transitioning to alternative energy sources, ramping up the use of electric vehicles, taking low-intensity building equipment and implementing circular economies. Recycled and low‑emission materials also feature in industry strategy.
The Sustainability Expo (SX) 2025 will anchor Austrade’s mission. The expo will highlight solutions in decarbonisation, biodiversity, liveable cities, climate change, and ageing societies.

Digital Transformation Program in Indonesia
Austrade will run the Digital Transformation to Indonesia Landing Pad Immersion Program from 21–23 October 2025. The program will support 15 export‑ready technology scaleups.
Areas of focus include AI‑enabled technology, blockchain, data governance, cybersecurity, verification, authentication, and risk assessments. Austrade says these offerings will position Australian innovators strongly within Indonesia’s fast‑growing digital ecosystem.
Indonesia’s Expanding Digital Market
Indonesia’s digital economy is projected to rise from US$127.1 billion in 2023 to US$170 billion by 2025. The country accounts for 40% of Southeast Asia’s digital economy.
AI adoption is expected to contribute US$244 billion by 2030, equivalent to 13% of 2022 GDP. A 2024 study reported 62% of Indonesian manufacturing and finance companies are investing in pilot AI projects, with 23% actively incorporating AI.
Indonesia recorded 403.9 million cyber incidents in 2023. Austrade says this fuels strong demand for incident monitoring tools, technical security, governance platforms, and cyber education. The Personal Data Protection Law, effective since 2024, amplifies demand for compliance solutions.
Edtech Opportunities in Vietnam
Austrade is seeking expressions of interest for the Edtech to Vietnam Landing Pad Immersion Program from 22–24 October 2025.
Vietnam’s population of 100 million and strong economic growth make it a significant market for education technology. The government’s Decision 131 roadmap aims to provide digital platforms, online teaching, and universal device access by 2025 and 2030.
Austrade notes opportunities for e‑learning platforms, interactive digital content, and learner engagement tools tailored to Vietnam’s digital education goals.

Mining and Resources in Vietnam
Vietnam hosts one of the world’s largest rare earth deposits but currently extracts just 300 million tonnes. New mining projects and government reforms provide fresh investment openings.
The Mineral Geology Law, passed in 2024, created a centralised system for planning and investment in resource development. Austrade encourages Australian METS businesses to enter the market during this expansion phase.

Dairy Growth Across Southeast Asia
Asia receives 87% of Australia’s dairy exports, with Southeast Asia the fastest‑growing market. The region imported 290,000 tonnes in FY2023–24 worth A$1.2 billion.
Vietnam is Australia’s eighth largest dairy market, with strong growth in cheeses, frozen milk concentrate, and cultured products. Demand comes from hospitality, international tourists, and returning students.
Recent counterfeit dairy scandals reinforced consumer trust in imported products. Austrade says the “Manufactured in Australia” label remains a strong selling point.

Partnerships Strengthening Dairy Trade
Austrade has supported Dairy Australia’s market programs for over a decade. Trade Commissioner Chris Morley said: “By working with the industry body, we build a greater connection with exporters, leverage each other’s networks and experience – and ultimately ensure improved outcomes for our clients and customers.”
One Hanoi‑based entrepreneur, Ali Waugh, switched from New Zealand to Australian cream cheese after Austrade facilitated supplier links. She reported lower costs, stronger taste, and higher productivity in her bakery operations.

Building Long‑Term Regional Opportunities
Dairy Australia continues to host scholarships bringing Southeast Asian buyers to Australia to meet producers and see operations first‑hand. Alumni events and technical exchanges sustain strong engagement.
Austrade highlights Southeast Asia as a strategic growth region across the green economy, digital innovation, education, resources, and premium food. The agency says Australian companies can achieve long‑term positioning by delivering trusted, technical, and sustainable solutions.
