Affordable Travel Options for South Australians
Indonesia AirAsia has announced its new direct flights between Adelaide and Bali. Starting June 25, 2025, the airline will offer four weekly flights between the two destinations. The new route comes as a result of increasing demand for affordable travel to Bali from South Australia.
The low-cost carrier will use an A320-200 aircraft with 180 seats. Tickets are now available for purchase, starting from $199. These flights will offer a convenient and budget-friendly travel option for South Australian holidaymakers.

Flight Schedule and Details
The new service will operate four times per week. Departures from Adelaide will be on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays at 11.30pm. Return flights from Denpasar, Bali, will leave at 7.50am local time on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.
Indonesia AirAsia will offer this service year-round. Over 74,000 seats will be available annually, providing significant capacity for South Australian travellers heading to Bali.
Significance of the New Route
Veranita Yosephine, CEO of Indonesia AirAsia, expressed her excitement about the launch. She noted, “Australia is one of our most important growth markets, and Adelaide will now serve as a gateway to over 130 destinations across the AirAsia Group network.”
This new route marks the airline’s first service to Adelaide, broadening its Australian network. It follows the addition of Cairns and Darwin as AirAsia destinations. The airline now connects South Australia to one of Asia’s most popular tourist destinations.
Demand for Affordable Flights
Brenton Cox, Managing Director of Adelaide Airport, commented on the importance of the new service. He explained, “Bali is the most popular destination for South Australian travellers. The introduction of Indonesia AirAsia’s services will meet the pent-up demand for affordable flights.”
Adelaide Airport has seen strong demand for direct flights to Bali. The introduction of AirAsia’s new service offers South Australians a more affordable travel option to the island. This is especially significant as Virgin Australia discontinued its direct service to Bali in May last year.
FlyThru Service Offers Convenient Connections
One of the key advantages of Indonesia AirAsia’s new route is its FlyThru service. This feature allows passengers to easily connect to multiple cities in Southeast Asia and beyond, including Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Bangkok, and Phuket.
The FlyThru service ensures passengers can travel seamlessly to their final destinations without the need to check in or collect baggage at transit points. This makes the new flights more convenient for those continuing their journey through AirAsia’s extensive network.

Increased Tourism and Economic Benefits
Vedi Kurnia Buana, Indonesian Consul General in Sydney, also praised the launch of the new service. He said, “This service not only facilitates travel for Australians to Indonesia but also invites Indonesian tourists to explore South Australia’s landmarks and heritage.”
The new route is expected to bring economic benefits to both regions. It will provide a boost to tourism by attracting more visitors to South Australia. Additionally, it will help enhance cultural and economic ties between Indonesia and Australia.
Competitive Pricing for South Australian Travellers
The introduction of the Adelaide-Bali route by Indonesia AirAsia offers competitive pricing compared to other airlines. Jestar currently operates direct flights on the same route, but their prices range between $279 and $608. With tickets starting from $199, Indonesia AirAsia provides a more affordable alternative.
Furthermore, the airline offers flights to other popular destinations in Southeast Asia. Tickets to Jakarta start at $252, Komodo Island at $230, Kuala Lumpur at $247, Singapore at $232, Bangkok at $291, and Phuket at $322. These affordable options expand travel choices for South Australians.
Booking and Availability
Tickets for the new flights went on sale today, and travellers can purchase them via the airline’s website. The booking system is open at AirAsia’s official website. Passengers can now secure their flights for travel starting June 25, 2023.
The Adelaide to Bali route will significantly improve travel options for South Australian tourists. With affordable fares and the convenience of direct flights, the new service promises to be a popular choice for those heading to Bali.
Conclusion
Indonesia AirAsia’s direct flights between Adelaide and Bali provide an exciting new option for South Australian travellers. With low fares, convenient connections, and increased tourism potential, this new route is set to boost travel and tourism between the two regions.
