Who qualifies for the AT&T data breach settlement?
AT&T agreed to settle lawsuits for $177 million pertaining to two big data breaches in 2024. These breaches exposed sensitive personal information, which led to one of the biggest class-action settlements in recent times.
Anyone who has been affected by either of the breaches may receive some money. The notice is currently being sent by Kroll Settlement Administration via email through the attsettlement@e.emailksa.com email address. Eligible individuals can also check their status by calling the settlement administrator at 833 890 4930.
The settlement is bifurcated into two classes: the class of victims affected by the March 2024 breach and the class of victims affected by the July 2024 breach. Those who were hit by both breaches might be eligible for a joint payment.
AT&T agrees to US$177 million settlement
Under the settlement, AT&T will pay $149 million to the March 2024 breach class for the losses suffered from 2019.
An additional $28 million shall be reserved for the July 2024 breach class; however, these claims apply for losses suffered on or after April 14, 2024.
Months of litigation and settlement negotiations preceded the settlement. AT&T has denied that any infringement has been committed; however, it has agreed to pay some money to avoid a long litigation process.
According to court papers, the breaches resulted in the exposure of names, Social Security numbers, addresses, and account information of millions. Identity thefts and financial frauds became evident, hence the precipitous legal action.

How much could an affected customer receive?
Eligible clients shall be entitled to receive compensation of up to $5,000 for this on the reverse of March 2024 breaches. The injuries must have occurred in 2019 or later. For the breach of July 2024, affected persons shall claim up to $2,500 for losses incurred on or after 14 April 2024. Those injured by both breaches may receive up to $7,500 combined. Each claim must have documentary evidence showing that losses are “fairly traceable” to the specific breach in question.
When is the claim deadline?
Examples of such documentation include bank statements, credit monitoring reports, and receipts for identity theft protection services. Such verification is intended to curb fraudulent claims and guarantee compensation for deserving victims.
Submit your claim no later than 18 November 2025. It can be sent by mail to the Claim Administrator or can be submitted online via the settlement website. Claim forms must be filled in completely and fully supported by the required evidence.
Late or incomplete applications are subject to disqualification. Legal analysts further advise eligible clients to hold back no bit of time. Should they wait till the deadline, there might be a slow development or an opportunity lost outright once additional information might be required.
Those who wish to opt out of the settlement to pursue separate legal action must also meet specific opt-out deadlines.
When will the payments be made?
Since it represents the last hearing, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas on 3 December 2025 will hold its final approval hearing.
If the court approves the settlement and any appeals are filed, payments could proceed early in 2026 but if sometimes an appeal is lodged, it could delay any payouts significantly.
Payments will be made by cheque or electronic transfer, per claimant preference.
