A New Standard in Performance and Versatility
Weight, Power and Design Improvements
The Cat® D6 dozer, a first-of-its-kind next-generation model, redefines expectations in its class with a 14% weight and 13% horsepower increase compared to the Cat D6T. Designed to deliver superior performance across a wide range of applications—from initial earthmoving to final grading—this machine eliminates the need for additional counterweights thanks to an improved frame design that ensures a balanced ride.
At its core is a fully automatic 4-speed powershift transmission with lock-up clutch (LUC) that continuously adjusts for optimal power and fuel efficiency. This allows operators to focus on the job while the D6 handles seamless transitions and gear selection without manual input.

Seamless Operator Experience Across Models
One of the D6’s biggest advantages is its common cab design shared with Cat’s D5 to D8 models. This consistency simplifies training and operation across different machine sizes. The new generation cab is not only ergonomic and user-friendly but also prioritises comfort and visibility.

Operators benefit from ROPS and FOPS integration, a sloped hood for enhanced front visibility, and features like single-pane door glass and sliding windows. The 254-mm (10-inch) touchscreen display option gives access to operating data and intuitive controls, while heating and air-conditioning have been optimised to improve air circulation and reduce window fogging.
Cutting-Edge Technologies to Boost Productivity
Advanced Assist Features and Automation
The Cat D6 dozer introduces next-level assist features that bring automation to blade and steering functions. These tools are especially valuable for less experienced operators, helping them perform at levels closer to seasoned professionals.
Key technologies include:
- Steer Assist: Reduces manual steering input by up to 75%.
- Stable Blade: Works with manual input to produce a smoother finish.
- Traction Control: Minimises track slip to conserve fuel and reduce wear.
- AutoCarry™: Automates blade lift based on GPS data.
- Blade Load Monitor: Gives real-time feedback on blade load efficiency.
- Cat Grade with Slope Assist™: Maintains blade position automatically without requiring a GPS signal.
Ready for 3D Grading and Remote Control
For operations that demand precision, the D6 can be factory-equipped with Cat Grade with 3D, utilising GNSS/GPS for real-time blade control. The integrated antennas and in-cab GPS receivers streamline installation and provide additional durability.
Compatibility with third-party grade systems like Trimble, Topcon and Leica ensures flexibility for contractors already invested in alternative platforms.
Moreover, the D6 can ship remote control ready, allowing operators to use Cat Command for Dozing. This system enables safe dozing in hazardous conditions with either line-of-sight remote control or non-line-of-sight operation through a fully equipped command station.
Maintenance, Safety and Connectivity
Simpler Service with Smarter Systems
The next-generation design minimises downtime with longer service intervals, fewer filters and modular components that are easier to access. Key maintenance enhancements include:
- Grouped service points for faster checks.
- Standard reversing fan to reduce cleaning frequency.
- 30-minute cab removal for internal component access.
- A rear ladder and ground-level fuel fill for convenience and safety.
Connectivity for Fleet Efficiency
Connectivity options such as Cat VisionLink® and Product Link™ allow operators and fleet managers to access essential data including machine hours, idle time, location, and fuel usage.
Additional features include:
- Remote Troubleshoot: Allows Cat dealers to diagnose issues off-site.
- Remote Flash: Lets users update machine software without a service call.
These solutions not only cut service costs but also ensure machines stay productive longer.
Built for Tough Environments
Configurations for Waste and Forestry
The Cat D6 dozer comes in specialised versions tailored for demanding sectors like waste management and forestry. Each configuration features:
- Polycarbonate doors for impact resistance.
- Guarding packages to protect against debris.
- HDXL undercarriage with resealable track bushings for impact-heavy jobs.
- Cab sweeps and additional screening for operator and machine safety.
These additions make the D6 not just adaptable but also incredibly durable under challenging field conditions.
A Legacy of Innovation
100 Years of Track-Type Tractor Excellence
Since launching its first track-type tractors in 1925, Caterpillar has consistently pushed the envelope in terms of durability, efficiency and technology. The new D6 continues this tradition, bringing together a century of engineering excellence with modern innovations like automated grading, remote operation, and real-time diagnostics.
Whether used for general earthmoving, fine grading or industry-specific tasks, the Cat D6 dozer stands as a testament to how far machinery has evolved—and where it’s headed.
