Voting opens across triple j platforms
Triple j has announced the Hottest 100 of Australian Songs as part of its 50th anniversary celebration this year. The national broadcaster opened voting from 8am AEST on Tuesday 17 June and will close it at 5pm AEST on Thursday 17 July. The countdown will air on Saturday 26 July from 10am AEST across triple j, Double J, triple j Unearthed and triple j Hottest.
Celebrating five decades of Australian music
This one-off edition celebrates the most influential Australian tracks that have defined local music. Listeners are encouraged to vote for songs released before 19 January 2025, triple j’s official 50th birthday. Triple j said the countdown aims to highlight songs that “have made a lasting impact and soundtracked the lives of our audience across generations.”
Hosts and broadcast plans revealed
The Hottest 100 of Australian Songs will feature a wide line-up of presenters from various triple j eras. Names include Ash McGregor, Dave Woodhead, Dylan Lewis, Yumi Stynes, Abby Butler, Tyrone Pynor, Concetta Caristo, Luka Muller, Zan Rowe and Lucy Smith. Each presenter will contribute to the network-wide broadcast airing simultaneously across all triple j stations.
How to vote and submit favourite songs
Fans can vote via the Hottest 100 voting page available on the triple j website. The site includes a comprehensive longlist to assist memory. Listeners may also manually nominate their favourite song if it doesn’t appear on the official list.

Eligible songs must be by Australian artists and released before 19 January 2025. Triple j clarified it could not include every Australian track in the longlist. However, the manual addition feature ensures fan favourites are not left out.

Voters can enter a competition by explaining in 50 words which Australian act they would take an alien to see and why. The winner will receive tickets to every triple j and Double J tour between July 2025 and July 2026. They will also win VIP tickets to Spilt Milk.
