Altech Chemicals Limited (ASX: ATC and FRA: A3Y) announces that Leadec Automation & Engineering GmbH (Leadec) has been selected as the lead engineer for the Definitive Feasibility Study for its CERENERGY® 100MWh Sodium Alumina Solid State Battery project. The project focuses on grid energy storage and will be built on Altech’s land in Saxony, Germany.

Leadec, the German company, has extensive expertise in cell production, module and pack production design and is a leading global service specialist for factories across their entire life cycle and related infrastructure. Leadec has assisted clients in the industrial sectors for 60 years, from planning and installation to factory automation. Leadec has long supported OEMs and suppliers in the field of battery manufacturing and e-mobility in this capacity.

A revolutionary storage alternative

As a breakthrough grid storage alternative to lithium-ion batteries, CERENERGY® batteries are revolutionising the industry. CERENERGY® batteries function in frigid and arid regions, are fire and explosion-proof, and have more than 15 years of lifespan. The lithium, cobalt, graphite, and copper-free battery technology uses table salt and is not exposed to these volatile metal prices or supply chain issues.

Leadec has already selected a highly skilled project team, and site and technical visits to Fraunhofer IKTS have already been undertaken. The Leadec team started the engineering work and has made solid progress following a two-day project workshop in Schwarze Pumpe, led by Managing Director Iggy Tan.
