Allianz Partners is a multinational financial service company headquartered in Munich, Germany. Allianz provides insurance and assets management as its core services, via its operations in 76 countries.
Allianz’s partner provides assistance services across various segments. Most preferred sectors are Healthcare, travel, automotive, and home & lifestyle. Carl Von Thieme and Wilhelm Von Finck founded Allianz Partner in the year 1890 in Berlin. It was found as a joint venture between Munich Reinsurance Company and Merck Finck & Co Bank.
It started its first offshore office in 1893 in London and since then it has expanded from Europe to America, the Middle East, and Asia. The venture was first started as a marine and accidental policy company back in 1890. Later, the company got its license to sell corporate policies in 1900 and was the first insurer to get the license.
The company sold its first fire insurance in 1905. It started selling machine breakdown insurance in 1911. During the time of great depression, first life insurance was drawn in 1922. It shifted its headquarter from Berlin to Munich after the Berlin office was destroyed during WW2.
After the world war, the company shifted its strategy and entered a new market by acquiring companies around the globe. Furthermore, it also converted its holding company into a European company in 2006. Currently, Allianz is the largest insurance company in the world.

Recently during the ongoing COVID 19 pandemic, Allianz Partners appointed Mr. Vinay Surana as the new regional CEO for the Asia Pacific. Mr. Vinay Surana will be managing Australia, China, Japan, India and South Asian markets.
Accordingly to the press release dated 16th April, the company announced Mr. Vinay Surana will be taking over the new position.

VINAY SURANA CAREER HIGHLIGHTS

Vinay has over 20 years of global experience in the financial services industry. Before joining Allianz, Vinay held the position of Senior Vice President, Head of Individual Personal Insurance for the Asia Pacific Region. He spent more than 13 years in various senior executive positions across numerous markets. He is a bankable leader with noteworthy international experience and a strong track record of building a profitable business.
Mr. Vinay Surana completed his graduation from the University of Calcutta, a bachelor’s degree in commerce. He then went ahead and completed his Chartered Accountant course in the year 2003.
Vinay started his career while he was studying his chartered accountancy in 2002 from the firm Chaturvedi and Co.He worked in this firm for about 2 years finally calling it quits in 2004 to join Ernst and Young as a senior associate- assurance and advisory services.
His stint in a prestigious firm like Ernst and Young was for a very short duration. He shifted to EXL Services as Lead associate BPRS where he worked for another two years. He later joined TATA AIG as Global Manager. This was the beginning of his long and illustrious career with AIG.
He joined the Delhi Office and later shifted to New York. He quickly gained ranks in AIG and got his first promotion from global manager to Vice President.
GROWING PHASE
In his, a little above four years at the New York office he got promoted to Chief Risk Officer and then finally as Global head of consumer reinsurance. In New York, his work included leading & manage the designing, structuring, and execution of the reinsurance strategies for the Personal Lines. He was also responsible for providing executive oversight to the Catastrophe Risk Management function for these Consumer businesses.
Later, he worked out of Japan office for 3 years and later shifted to Sydney, Australia as the senior vice president. This was his last position in AIG before calling it quits after 13 years with the company to join Allianz Partner as the CEO of the Asia Pacific region, Australia, Japan, China, India, and South Asia.

Vinay acquired in-depth technical expertise in insurance and underwriting, strategic planning, reinsurance, risk management, partnership development, and digital enablement as well as Insure-tech over his career spanning 20 years. It is because of his ability to learn and adapt to new markets, that he got promoted to senior positions in a very short period.
His career spanned over three major continents and various senior executive positions, started from a regular university college in India and now being hired as the CEO, the Asia Pacific for one of the leading insurance company in the world, makes him an inspiration for all the young minds aspiring to make a career in financial services.
